Are You Having Trouble Reducing Body Fat?

Many people see me for weight loss and for some of these people it is a simple case of improving their diet, reducing kilojoule intake and exercising a little more. However, for many there are underlying factors that makes reducing body fat almost impossible. My job as their practitioner is to discover what has turned off fat burning.
It can be so frustrating and challenging for people to reduce body fat when certain body processes have gone a little haywire for them. This in turn switches off their body's ability to release fat from fat cells.
I usually refer my patients for blood tests, saliva hormone testing, live blood analysis and sometimes digestion function tests. I look for signs of and causes of:

  • inflammation in the body
  • thyroid dysfunction
  • poor muscle energy production
  • poor cellular fluid balance
  • intestinal permeability (leaky gut)
  • raised stress hormones
  • excess oestrogen or testosterone for women
  • too little testosterone and raised oestrogen in men
  • nutritional deficiencies
  • genetic influences
  • fluid retention
  • food sensitivities
  • heavy metal load
  • liver dysfunction
With these test results and a good picture of where things went awry, I then recommend a specific diet along with nutritional and herbal supplements if needed to bring their body back into balance. It's always very gratifying to see that patient's body fat levels reducing, sleep quality improving, energy improving, pains reducing, mood lifting and skin glowing.
