Artist Profile - Jan Purser

Jan began painting in oils in the ‘80s in Sydney. After a break from painting due to studies and life’s intrusions, Jan took up the brush again in 2002 after moving to Perth. Since then Jan has enjoyed learning drawing skills using charcoal, pastels and pencil with Josh Gregson initially, and then painting with acrylics, oils and pastels with Peta Miller and then Brian Simmonds.

Artist's Statement
"All the aspects of nature can bring about a feeling of pure joy and wonder for me - from the colour and form of exquisite flowers to the power in storm clouds on the horizon. I have always been very aware of beauty in nature in all its forms and my passion is to record this in some way to inspire others. My hope is that my paintings will bring about a sense of peace and ease by those who pause to study them."
