As men move into their fifties and beyond, their testosterone (male hormone) levels can drop and their oestrogen (female hormones) may rise. This leads to what we know as the "grumpy old man syndrome". Living with a male with this syndrome can make many women feel far from affectionate as they deal with the moodiness, weight gain and increased snoring. Do not despair, there is help at hand!

With the change of seasons from Summer to Autumn take the following steps to help your body transition easily through the seasons. We did talk about immune boosting in a previous newsletter and if you read on you can recap this article. In the meantime, make sure you begin taking a good quality echinacea (pictured) supplement before the cold weather starts. Look for one that contains echinacea root for best results. Also ask Jan to give you a zinc status test at your next appointment as this mineral is crucial for good immune function. It is a great idea to take a good probiotic supplement on a regular basis. Ask at your health food store for a probiotic that is good quality and boosts immunity. Remember some good old fashioned advice - if people around you have a cold or flu be fastidious about washing your hands before touching your face and eating and after touching door handles, telephones and such.
