Food-Body-HealthYeast Infection Checklist

A yeast infection is also known as candida, as it is caused by the Candida albicans yeast. This yeast is present in 90 to 98 per cent of humans but is only harmful if it grows out of control. A yeast infection generally begins in the digestive system and if the digestive system is not functioning at its best result in symptoms throughout the body. Although candida can be a challenging condition to treat, at Food, Body + Health we can give the appropriate dietary advice as well as prescribe the best treatments to help get rid your body of excess candida.

If you are suffering from several of the following symptoms we recommend you book in for a consultation with us. We will conduct a simple blood test to determine if you do in fact have a candida infection, then suggest the best management of your condition.

The symptoms include:

  • Constipation
  • Chronic diarrhoea
  • Skin problems such as pimples, eczema and psoriasis
  • Poor memory
  • Mood swings
  • Depression
  • Sinus problems
  • Fatigue
  • Muscular weakness
  • PMS and other menstrual problems
  • Recurrent thrush
  • Tinea
  • Headaches
  • Poor concentration

Yeast thrives on sugar and in order to treat a yeast infection it is most important to remove all foods containing added sugar such as fruit juice, dried fruit, biscuits, cakes, carbonated drinks, lollies and chocolate. It is also important to remove those foods that contain yeast such as beer, wine, pizza, yeasted breads, vegemite and pastries as well as fermented foods such as deli meats, soy sauce and fish sauce. Foods that contain mould must also be avoided including cheese with moulded rinds and blue cheese. Some fermented foods are fine to eat such as miso soup, unsweetened yogurt and sauerkraut.

Make an appointment to see us today and get that candida problem under control. You will be so glad you did!
