Iron Check List

If you experience two or more of these symptoms talk to Jan about having an iron studies test carried out. If you know you have chronically low iron, you can organise an appointment for a hair tissue mineral analysis test and also a helicobactor pylori test through Jan to check for possible causes.

Good food sources of iron include: mussels, clams (pictured), oysters, red meat, dried apricots, lentils, liver, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seed kernels, tofu, parsley and chicken thigh meat, fish, nuts, tahini and tempeh.

Iron is one mineral you should not self prescribe as excess iron creates its own set of problems. Here are the symptoms you might suffer if you are deficient:
