A yeast infection is often caused by the Candida albicans yeast. This yeast is present in 90 to 98 per cent of humans but is only harmful if it grows out of control. A yeast infection generally begins in the digestive system if the digestive system is not functioning at its best and if the diet is too high in refined foods and sugary drinks. However, it can be a little more complex than that. The result of a yeast overgrowth? Symptoms that can affect various parts of the body and leave you generally feeling below par.
