Naturopathic Nutritionist     

Jan is a high profile naturopathic nutritionist, health writer and award-winning author. Her mission is your nutrition and her approach is practical, simple and effective.

​Jan completed her naturopathic nutritional medicine qualifications at Nature Care College and Health Schools Australia, and has been in practice since 1996, first in the busy Sydney CBD practice Hands On Sydney for five years, and then in Perth since 2002. Jan ran her own practice in Perth for eight years before joining the team at Remede Wellness Medicine in 2010.  

​Jan’s passion for nutrition started during her first career as a home economist, where she conducted cooking demonstrations, recipe and product development and teaching.

This included working in the Australian Women’s Weekly Test Kitchen for six years as an editor of cookbooks. It was during this time that Jan became more interested in the nourishment value and nutritional importance of food, which led her to commence nutritional medicine studies while still working at the magazine.

Jan’s wealth of experience allows her to combine her expertise on health and nutrition with cooking, writing and public speaking. In addition to her busy practice, she was the contributing natural health editor for Australian Good Taste magazine and her monthly column ‘Natural Solutions’ appeared in this magazine for 14 years. Jan is often called upon by the media for her comments and opinions on natural health, and she is quoted regularly in health columns in The West Australian newspaper.

As an experienced nutritionist, ‘foodie’ and accomplished recipe developer, Jan has authored eight books on cooking, meditation and natural health. Her latest two books have won international awards. The Eat Well Cookbook, a fabulous gluten-free and dairy-free book, followed fast on the heels of The Detox Cookbook, which is an essential guide to doing a detox well with delicious recipes.

Jan loves to spread the word on how to eat well and achieve great health and she is an experienced, engaging and informative speaker. She calls on her wealth of clinical experience and extensive research when speaking to corporate and community groups on good health, nutritious food and living with vitality. Popular topics include Nutrition for Stress Management, Healthy Weight Loss, Effective Detoxification, Energy Boosters, Cancer Prevention and Anti-ageing. 

Areas of specialty and approach to treatment

Jan is passionate about helping her clients achieve optimal health and nutrition, so they can feel the best they can, using a balanced, achievable and effective approach. To address the underlying issues of a health concern, Jan uses a range of tests  including dietary and nutritional assessments, cellular health testing, pH and mineral testing. Jan will also use salivary hormone testing, stool analysis for digestive problems and weight issues, food intolerance testing, comprehensive DNA testing, pathology testing and hair tissue mineral analysis testing, if required.

After the thorough initial assessment and collection of test results, Jan educates her clients on the best nutrition and lifestyle to correct their health condition and to help them achieve and maintain a healthy weight, prevent disease and experience true vitality. She prescribes natural medicines and nutritional supplementation if required, to correct health issues.
